Government | Board of Trustees


Members to the Village Board of Trustees are elected at-large for four-year, overlapping terms. The Board President, the Mayor, is also elected for a term of four years. The Board of Trustees serves as the legislative body of the Village, adopting Ordinances and Resolutions which become Village Law. The Village Board of Trustees is also responsible for appointing members of various statutory and advisory boards including the Plan Commission, the Economic Development Commission, and the Police and Fire Commission. Regular Village Board meetings are the second and fourth Monday's of each month. Meetings will begin at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall unless otherwise posted. All Board meetings are open to the public, and all citizens are invited to attend.

VILLAGE BOARD COMMITTEE STRUCTURE & ASSIGNMENTS 2011

The Mayor and Village Board organize Standing Committees whose function is to review monthly the specific departments of the Village. Each committee is comprised of two Board members and Village Staff. Committees meet monthly and report any information back to the Village Board. The committees are as follows:

DEVELOPMENT & LAND USE Chairman – Annette Bowden
Co-Chair – David Butterfield
Staff – Robin Ellis
Review development and land use issues as they pertain to Village and Township planning areas. Work with Plan Commission, Development Staff, Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance Reviews, Intergovernmental Relations with Park, Schools, Library & Fire, Sketch Plan Development, etc.

WATER & SEWER Chairman – Nancy Dye
Co-Chair – David Smith
Staff – Ron Sly & Will Nash
Water & Sewer Department Operation & Maintenance, Capital Improvement Programs, and Long Range Utility Line, Treatment Plant, and Water Supply Planning.

STREETS & DRAINAGE Chairman – Ray Tuminello
Co-Chair – Annette Bowden
Staff – Ron Sly & Will Nash
All aspects of Streets & Grounds, Drainage, Operation and Maintenance related Capital Improvement Programs, Transportation Plan, Street Lighting.

FINANCE Chairman – David Butterfield
Co-Chair – Keith Madsen
Staff – Kurt Carroll & Kim Auchstetter
All financial aspects of Village Government, Business Registration, and other permits, registrations & licensing, Revenue Enhancements, Accounts Receivable/Payable, Audits, Budget, Financial Plan, Fixed Assets Accounting.

PUBLIC SAFETY Chairman – David Smith
Co-Chair – Nancy Dye
Staff – Bob Sterba
Public Safety, Police Department, Communication System, all aspects of Law Enforcement and Public Safety Planning, Animal Control.

PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS Chairman – Keith Madsen
Co-Chair – Ray Tuminello
Staff – Warren Rendleman, Ron Sly, and Kurt Carroll
Village buildings and grounds, Village open space, Village appearance, Beautification, Image, Subdivision design standards, Code compliance, Building Department, Code Enforcement, Commuter Parking Lot, ADA Public Improvements and other regulatory requirements, Right to Know, Employee Safety Programs, etc.
