The Police and Fire Commission:
The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is an independent Board responsible for the testing, hiring, promotion, termination, and disciplinary measures of Police Department staffing. The Board consists of three commissioners appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Board of Trustees. One commissioner acts as a chairman. The board is obligated to follow state statute and law pertaining to their responsibility. They do not report to the Village Board per se. The current goals of the Fire & Police Board are to test and hire individuals to fill the vacant, authorized patrol officer positions using the following objectives and to establish a new sergeant's promotional list. The objectives of the commission are to provide the highest quality police officers through their testing process and to appoint the best qualified candidates to the Department, to determine the most qualified candidates for promotion to supervisory ranks and to appoint those people, and to provide an independent Board to hear disciplinary cases and take appropriate action.

Police Pension Board:
The Police Pension Board oversees the status of funding and investments of the Police Pension Fund. This appointed Board consists of five part-time members; namely a chairman and four board members. The goal of the Board is to maximize the New Lenox Police Pension Fund's investment yield while providing safety and liquidity to the Fund. The Board will consider House Bill 23 (expanding investment authority) when making investment decisions. The objective of the Board is to oversee the investments and operation of the New Lenox Police Pension Fund.

Economic Development Commission: The EDC provides support for the economic development function of the Village. It provides assistance for economic growth and development in the Village of New Lenox. The appointed members comprise the five member commission, with the Economic Development Coordinator, the Mayor, and the Village Administrator providing staff support for this function. The goals of the EDC are to attract commercial development to the Village; to bring economic growth to the Village; to advertise and promote the Village by attending various trade shows and by participating in business groups throughout the Chicagoland area; and to attract more individuals and businesses to the Annual EDC Business Breakfast. The objectives of the EDC are to develop efforts for retention of existing business and the attraction of new commercial and industrial business and to construct a data base of existing developed properties, available developed sites, as well as available undeveloped sites.

Parking and Traffic Advisory Board:
The Parking and Traffic Advisory Board recommends, in an advisory capacity to the Board of Trustees, actions that are aimed at improving parking and traffic conditions in the Village of New Lenox. This advisory board also reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees on traffic studies prepared by consultants, hired by the Village of New Lenox. The Parking and Traffic Advisory Board consists of five members, three of who shall be citizens of the Village and appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The fourth member of the board shall be the Village Engineer or his/her designee, and the fifth member of the board shall be a police officer trained in traffic control.

Community Access Television League:
This volunteer group provides community based, not-for-profit television programming on the Village Cable Television network (Channel 6). Programs such as local sporting events, parades, news updates, and other civic functions are provided routinely. The league consists of 10 to 20 volunteers and one paid part-time coordinator. The current goals of the Cable Access Television League are to provide the Village cable users updated information on the Village cable television network and to provide programs on the local television network that serve as instructional programs of Village services.
