New Lenox Village Services - Police |
Public Safety
The Police Department is responsible for providing law enforcement and security services to the residents of the Village of New Lenox. As a professionally trained law enforcement agency, it provides enforcement of local ordinances and state and federal laws. The Department provides patrol and traffic services, investigation of criminal and non-criminal cases and citizens complaints. In addition to its investigative responsibilities, it provides crime prevention and disaster services. The Department has an authorized strength of thirty-one sworn personnel. Supervision of the department is performed by five sergeants, a commander, and the Chief of Police.
A call to the police emergency number or the department non-emergency number is answered by the Lincolnway Police Communication Center. The center dispatches for New Lenox, Frankfort, and the Mokena Police Departments. It provides a cost effective method of handling this important public safety function. Dispatch personnel are trained telecommunicators skilled in arranging for delivery of emergency services. The communication center is equipped to handle calls for service from the hearing impaired. A teletypewriter stands ready to answer calls from individuals having similar devices in their homes. |
