Water Reclamation Plant One | Chemical Treatment |
Aeration Tanks
The most complex and interesting part of a wastewater
treatment plant is the biological process. The water
leaving the grit system still contains solids and disease
causing bacteria. In secondary treatment we culture
bacteria and protozoa to consume the solids and destroy
any dangerous viruses or bacteria. This stage of treatment
is a carefully controlled artificial environment where
microorganisms that live in nature can be used in a
fast and efficient manner. We control the oxygen content,
the mixing, the temperature, the contact time, and the
microorganism population size.
