Waste
Water Reclamation Plant Two | Tertiary Treatment |
Tertiary Sand Filtration
In nature, when rain water falls it passes through soil,
gravel, and rock down to aquifers. This naturally purifies
the surface water and we pump this water out of the
aquifers for drinking water. We use the same concept
with our sand filters. A portion of the waste water
that leaves the secondary treatment process passes through
granular material (sand, coal, and gravel) which strains
out or absorbs any remaining solids. These filters are
manually cleaned when they get dirty. The effluent flow
from the filters is then blended with the other flow
from the clarifiers prior to discharge to the creek.
