Water Reclamation Plant Two | Solids Handling |
Aerobic Digestion
Aerobic digestion is the next step in our stabilization
of the sludge. We have large tanks were we add oxygen
for mixing and to supply oxygen for the living organisms
which we use to consume the thickened sludge. The solids
spend about 30 days in these tanks and where we reduce
the volume and destroy pathogenic bacteria which could
be harmful.
Air is pumped to the bottom of the tanks where it
is released evenly through the tank. The air mixes the
water and provides oxygen for the living organisms.
Gravity Thickening
After digestion, we separeate the sludge and clean
water to thicken the solids for transport.
Sludge Loading
This station is used to fill semi trucks which either
haul the sludge to Plant One for storage or haul the
sludge directly to the farm fields for incorporation
into the soil.
Sludge Storage
Sludge Storage is provied at Plant One to hold the
sludge until it can be applied to the farm fields.
