Village Services - What's New

Village To Honor Area Men And Women Currently Serving In The Armed Forces

The Mayor and the New Lenox Board of Trustees wish to pay tribute to our men and women who selflessly devote their time and energy in service to our Country. We look to honor all those men and women from New Lenox who have served previously or currently serving in our Country's Armed Forces. We realize the great sacrifices that they make on a daily basis and pray that none will ever face the ultimate sacrifice.

Therefore, as a small token of our appreciation, the Village has designed and will display in perpetuity a plaque listing our men and women from New Lenox who have in the past or are currently serving in the Armed Forces.

In addition, as our young men and women enlist in the Armed Services, their names will be added to the plaque. To do this, we invite you to submit the names of your sons or daughters along with the Branch of Military they have enlisted. To register, click here. . .

Leaf Bags for Senior Citizens

We would like to remind Village residents who are Senior Citizens (over the age of 65) to stop by Village Hall to get their packet of ten free yardwaste bags. Each fall, our senior residents are provided ten free yardwaste bags as part of our refuse contract. Seniors who are interested in receiving the free yardwaste bags are asked to come to Village Hall and fill out a simple form. Bags are immediately available upon request.

Free Leaf Pick Up

As part of the Village's contract with our disposal service, Village residents who place their leaves in brown paper yardwaste bags will not be required to put a yardwaste sticker on those bags during the eight-week period starting October 9th. These bags are collected by Nu-Way on the same day as your regular garbage and recycling collection. The four-week leaf collection where stickers are not required on yardwaste bags filled with leaves coincides with the annual end-date of landscape waste facilities' season.

Loyalty Day

The Harry E. Anderson VFW Post 9545 annually hosts a Loyalty Day parade in the Village of New Lenox. The parade is held on the first Sunday in May, and steps off at 2:00 p.m. from the Lion's Den Parking Lot on South Cedar Road. It follows Cedar Road to Haven Avenue, then west to Veterans Parkway, ending at the New Lenox Library. For additional information on this annual parade, please call the VFW at 485-8369.

Proud American Days

The New Lenox Park District hosts the annual Proud American Days Festival held at the Community Center during the last weekend in July. You can contact the New Lenox Community Park District at: 485-3584.
