Changes to Village Services
Posted on Wednesday March 18, 2020
The Village Staff has taken the following measures to help protect the public, while continuing to provide services:
All Village facilities are closed to the Public, and all tours of the facilities are suspended. All Departments are encouraging addressing issues either through the computer or by phone(all non-emergency police calls will be handled telephonically). One on one meetings are being discouraged, unless there are no other ways to resolve an issue.

All training has been suspended for all departments until further notice.

Village Hall

Although the Village Hall is closed, in the second-floor vestibule of the Village Hall, there will be bins to drop off water bills, building permits, and items for the Chamber of Commerce.

With respect to water bills, please use the Village’s drop box in the parking lot for the upper floor of the Village Hall. There will be envelopes for those that need one or instructions to pay with a credit card over the phone in the upper floor vestibule. You can pay on line at Pay on-line @, or by phone at 1-855-386-9152 (this is also on the Village’s website)

Both Jewel stores and the 7-11 @ Route 30 have Metra tokens and garbage stickers at their locations.

We are asking all builders to consider our collective health and safety and only conduct essential building department business until further notice. If they need to pay for a permit or pay the fees necessary to receive a certificate of occupancy, we are asking that they make an appointment. During this period, the Village will be taking in payments of impact fees for all taxing districts, which must be submitted as separate checks.

Police Department

The Police Department lobby will remain open on a limited service basis, but we are asking that citizens only come to the Police Department if it is absolutely necessary. If you need service please continue to contact our non-emergency phone number at 815-485-2500 and our dispatch center will have an officer contact you. As always if you have an emergency please dial 9-1-1.

We will be suspending our prescription drop off program until further notice.

We will no longer be providing the service of fingerprinting residence for job applications, adoptions etc. until further notice.
Please keep in mind that if an officer does respond to your home, they may be wearing personal protective equipment, i.e. gloves, mask etc. Please do not be alarmed as this is for your safety and the safety of our officers.

Officers that arrive at an individual’s residence may ask you to step outside. Please expect our officers to be practicing the recommendation of social distancing when speaking with you.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please free to contact our administrative offices at 815-462-6100.

Public Works Department

The Public works has split the Street, Water, and Wastewater Departments in teams to try and mitigate the impact of the potential spread of the virus on Village service delivery.

The Village’s vehicles are prepared and our fuel capacity has been filled and some hard to get parts have been stocked in case of a supply chain issue.

Water has suspended appointments outside of emergencies, including the installation of water meters

Wastewater is only entering houses if it is a backup other issues will be dealt with over the phone
