Overview
DV 101 is an overview on the dynamics of domestic abuse. This presentation covers the definition of domestic abuse in Illinois, the forms of abuse, identifying early warning signs, understanding why a victim does not “just leave” an abusive relationship, and most importantly how to safely advocate for victims so they can begin to lead a violence free life!
Presenter
Tracy Curtis holds a master’s degree in forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She chose this path to deepen her understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and the behaviors of those who perpetrate abuse, with the goal of better educating and supporting survivors and communities. As a survivor of domestic violence herself, she is passionate about raising awareness and providing guidance to those affected. Her work allows her to give back by helping survivors safely navigate their way out of abusive relationships and by educating others to prevent future victimization.
