New construction and building renovations are handled primarily by the Building and Engineering Departments.
Building Department
Welcome to the Village of New Lenox Building Department. The Building Department is a division of Community Development and is responsible for all phases of construction, permitting, and inspections within the Village. The department reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts field inspections for all construction projects ranging from a backyard shed to commercial projects and medical facilities. The review of building plans, issuance of permits, and conducting of inspections are all done in an effort to protect health, safety, and general welfare of Village residents.
Engineering Department
The Engineering Department is responsible for planning and directing municipal engineering improvements in the design and construction of sidewalks, streets, and storm sewers; water distribution systems; traffic control systems; sanitary sewer lines; and wastewater treatment plant enhancements; as well as related public works/utilities projects.
The Engineering Department reviews all new construction projects to ensure adequate provision is made for municipal systems and storm water detention.
