50/50 Parkway Tree Replacement Program
The 50/50 Parkway Tree Replacement Program is offered annually and assists residents with replacing a parkway tree. If you have a tree that is dead, dying or damaged due to disease or a storm related incident this program is designed for you. With this program residents pay half of the cost of the tree, the Village pays the other half, and has the trees delivered and planted in the fall months.
Applications are typically sent out in June with a variety of Village parkway approved species available for your selection. The applications have a specific deadline to be returned, (usually within 30 days of receiving the application) as it goes to out for a bidding process with registered landscape contractors.
Village staff will assess each application submitted to determine if spacing meets Village Code. Trees must be 30’ from any street light or another tree, and 10’ from driveway, hydrants or any other utility. Once spacing has been approved, residents are notified by mail of their selected tree and given tree care instructions.
Residents need to contact the Public Works department at (815) 215-4800 if they would like a parkway tree assessed and to become eligible for this program or if they have any additional questions.
